How should I prepare for Tryouts?

Stick work, stick work, stick work!  The most difficult transition from playing field hockey on a turf field to a basketball court is the speed at which the ball rolls; practice your stick work as fast as possible on a carpet or garage floor, trying to keep the ball on your stick and the “taps” to a minimum.   To help ALL athletes prepare for their tryouts, Mayhem will be hosting OPEN PLAY nights for U16/U19 & U14/U12 athletes of all ages, skill levels, and club affiliations.

What is “Indoor Field Hockey?”

The winter indoor season runs from November through February.   “Indoor field hockey” is a version of the sport VERY different from, but of the utmost importance to, outdoor field hockey.  Very similar to soccer’s version of “futsal,” indoor field hockey is played on a hard court and is fast and furious!  Continue to develop the speed of your decision making and skill by training during the winter months.  The commitment is intensive but is worth every second if you want to take your game to the next level!

Is there an Alternative to Participating on a Travel Team?

OF COURSE!  If you’re looking for a way to improve your skills during the winter without the commitment of a travel team, join us for the Mayhem Rising Training Program– an intensive (but fun!) weekly skills program held on Saturdays in KOP that is packed with drills, skills, and plenty of scrimmaging!
