Commitment story by Mainline Mayhem:
Grad Year- 2020
High school- Gwynedd Mercy Academy
Team/Position -Midfield/Defender, Mayhem Yellow Hannah
College/intended major- Northeastern University,
Why did you chose this college?
I chose Northeastern because of the academic excellence the university offers, the Co-Op opportunity it provides its students, and the location in downtown Boston. Additionally, the coaching staff has instilled a sense of success in the team and are fully committed to taking the program to the next level.
Other colleges looked at: Providence College, Boston University, Syracuse University, Temple University
Field Hockey Honors: Region 5 JPOL Leading Scorer, USA Field Hockey NIT Champion, 2x Catholic Academy League All Star, PhilaFH Senior All Star, NFHCA 2019 High School National Academic Squad, PhilaFH Academic All-State
Best Field Hockey Memory:
My best field hockey memory in high school is the time the team would spend together on the bus to away games. We were a very close group so I always looked forward to spending time with them off the field. We were always able to unwind before having to play, which ultimately improved our connectivity on the field as well.
The best thing about being a Mayhem athlete:
The best thing about Mayhem is the constant support the players receive from both our coaches and each other. The coaches push us to be better players and have established a competitive yet team-oriented atmosphere.
What are your field hockey goals?
I hope to make an immediate impact on the field when I get to Northeastern, as well as helping the team win the CAA championship and advancing into the NCAA tournament.
What will you miss about being a Mayhem athlete:
I will miss the coaches and the players the most. I instantly felt welcomed once I began at Mayhem and created bonds with my teammates both on and off the field.
Who would you like to thank and why?
I would like to thank my parents for their constant support of me and my field hockey career so far. My dad, who spent countless hours helping me navigate the recruitment process and always offering to come to the turf with me to help practice, and my mom, who always remained my number one supporter and traveled with me to all of my tournaments and games. They never stopped believing in my abilities and helped me get to the place I am today. I would also like to thank Alex McMahan and the other Mayhem coaches for helping me throughout the recruitment process and pushing me to be a better player.
